Lääkesumuttimet, often referred to as nebulizers, are medical devices designed to administer liquid medication in the form of a fine mist that can be inhaled directly into the lungs. Mesh nebulizers are the most recent innovation, using a vibrating mesh with tiny holes to create the aerosol, offering portability and efficiency.

The process typically involves placing the liquid medication into a cup or reservoir within the nebulizer. The device then converts the liquid into a mist, which the patient inhales through a mouthpiece or a mask that fits over the nose and mouth. Treatment duration usually varies from 5 to 20 minutes, depending on the medication dosage and the type of nebulizer used. Proper cleaning and maintenance of the nebulizer are crucial to prevent infection and ensure the device functions effectively.
