These reactions can vary greatly in appearance and severity, ranging from mild, transient eruptions to life-threatening conditions. The underlying mechanisms can be diverse, including direct toxicity of the drug or its metabolites, immunological responses, or idiosyncratic reactions.

In some cases, further investigations such as skin biopsies or allergy testing may be necessary. Management primarily involves discontinuing the offending medication. Supportive care, including topical corticosteroids, antihistamines, and in severe cases, systemic corticosteroids or immunosuppressants, may be required depending on the type and severity of the reaction.
