Lenstobody is an integrated optical module concept in imaging technology that combines a small lens assembly with a photosensitive sensor into a single, compact body. The term is used in engineering literature and product literature to describe a monolithic or tightly integrated camera component designed for miniature form factors.

Typically the module includes a refractive micro-lens array, a focusing mechanism (fixed focus or MEMS-driven), a silicon image sensor such as CMOS or CCD, and a seal or housing that provides mechanical robustness and electrical interfaces. Materials range from glass or polymer lenses to metal or high-strength polymer housings. Some designs use die-to-die integration, with the lens group bonded directly to the sensor substrate.

Variants include fixed-focus lenstobodys for simple vision tasks, autofocus versions with microelectromechanical actuators, and ultra-compact forms for wearables. Performance is determined by sensor size and pixel pitch, lens quality, and optical alignment tolerances. Wavelength coverage often spans visible light and near-infrared.

Advantages include reduced assembly steps, smaller footprint, and better optical alignment, while challenges involve higher manufacturing costs, thermal management, and limited upgradeability compared with discrete lens and sensor components. The field remains active in consumer electronics, medical devices, and industrial sensing, with ongoing work to improve integration, optics, and performance.
