The primary categories of leefmiddelen are non‑opioid analgesics, opioid analgesics, and adjuvant drugs used for chronic pain. Non‑opioid drugs such as ibuprofen, naproxen and paracetamol act by inhibiting cyclo‑oxygenase enzymes or by suppressing prostaglandin synthesis.
