Side

Side is a toponym and a common term used in geometry. As a place, it refers to a town on the Mediterranean coast of southwestern Turkey, in Antalya Province within the Manavgat district. The modern town is a popular resort known for its beaches and its proximity to ancient ruins.

The ruins of the ancient city lie on a promontory overlooking the sea and include a well-preserved Roman theater dating from the 2nd century CE and the Temple of Apollo, a hilltop sanctuary near the harbor. Archaeological remains also include substantial sections of the city walls and an ancient basilica, reflecting Greco-Roman architectural influences. The ancient city of Side, located in Pamphylia on the southern coast of Anatolia, was inhabited from at least the 7th century BCE. It developed as a Greek settlement and later came under Roman rule, with a harbor that supported regional trade and a Greco-Roman architectural landscape that remains visible in the ruins today.
