Koormusjahte is an Estonian maritime term that refers to cargo yachts used by coastal communities for carrying goods along the Baltic Sea and nearby waterways. The word combines koormus, meaning load or burden, with jaht, meaning yacht, to describe small to mid-sized sailing vessels designed for practical cargo transport rather than passenger luxury.

Etymology and scope. The term is rooted in Estonian maritime vocabulary and appears in historical discussions of coastal trade. Koormusjahte were part of a broader category of working sail vessels used to move freight between harbors and through regional waterways. They are typically described as sturdy, relatively small vessels capable of navigating shallow coastal areas and sheltered rivers.

Design and operations. Koormusjahte commonly featured one or two masts with simple rigging suited to practical sailing and easy handling by crews from fishing and farming communities.
