Klipsimalliset are a genus of Baltic amber-fossilized flies that date back to the Eocene epoch, approximately 50 million years ago. These insects were first discovered in the Baltic region of Northern Europe and were among the early finds in the amber of the region.

The name "klipsimalliset" is derived from the Latin word for "windowfly," which is a colloquial name for the genus. Klipsimalliset flies have characteristics that distinguish them from other insects of their time. Specifically, the fossilized remains display large compound eyes, long antennae, and a series of vein patterns in their wings reminiscent of modern-day flies.

Initial studies of klipsimalliset provided insights into evolutionary biology by introducing the idea of these miniature creatures, which could reach wing spans of only about 1 centimeter. Later research determined that their wings consisted of microscopic scales, and their bulbous bodies had aggregations of sensory hairs.

Contemporary scientists point out that these insects were possibly algae- or flower-feeders during the Eocene and suggest that combined digestive enzymes present in their mouthparts may have noticeably affected the local distribution and feeding patterns of floras.
