Klikvloer refers to a floating floor system in which planks or tiles are designed to interlock through a click-lock mechanism. The floor is not glued or nailed to the subfloor; instead, the pieces snap together and rest on a stable underlayment. This creates a floating surface that can expand and contract with changes in temperature and humidity, with an expansion gap kept around the perimeter.

There are several types of klikvloer. Laminate klikvloer uses a layered composite board with a photographic wear layer and a durable top coat. Vinyl click floors (often called LVT or SPC varieties) use a vinyl wear layer and can offer higher moisture resistance. Engineered wood klikvloer consists of a real wood veneer on a stable core and provides a more natural wood appearance while retaining a click system. Each type differs in appearance, wear layer thickness, and moisture tolerance.

Installation is designed to be user-friendly for non-professionals. A flat, dry subfloor is required, often with an underlayment for sound and minor moisture protection. Planks are laid row by row, guided by a staggered pattern, and cut at the edges. Tools commonly used include a tapping block and a pull bar. An expansion gap is left at walls and fixed objects, and acclimation to room conditions is recommended before installation.

Maintenance and durability vary by material. Laminate and engineered wood klikvloeren are generally easy to clean but can be sensitive to moisture; vinyl click floors offer better moisture resistance. Damaged planks can sometimes be swapped without replacing the entire floor, depending on the product. Klikvloeren are commonly used in living spaces and offices where quick installation and potential for reuse are valued.
