Klamki is the Polish term for door handles, the hardware used to operate a door latch or bolt and thereby open or close a door. They are mounted on interior and exterior doors and come in a variety of shapes, actuation styles, and mounting options. In English-language contexts they are generally referred to as door handles, door levers, or doorknobs, depending on the design.

Common types include lever handles, which are pushed or lifted to release the latch and are often easier to use for people with limited hand strength; knobs, which require a rotation to operate the latch; and pull or backplate designs that may be used on wide or decorative doors. There are also privacy variants that can be locked from inside, passage variants that do not lock, and specialty designs for bathrooms, bedrooms, or furniture such as cabinets.

Materials and finishes vary widely. Typical materials include brass, stainless steel, zinc alloy, and aluminum. Finishes range from polished or brushed chrome and satin nickel to brass tones, black finishes, or powder coatings. The choice of material and finish influences durability, corrosion resistance, and how the handle fits with architectural style.

Installation and components. A standard setup consists of the handle or knob, a spindle that connects handles on either side of the door, a latch or bolt mechanism inside the edge of the door, and a strike plate in the door frame. Mounting may use rosettes, backplates, or decorative escutcheons, and backset sizes commonly vary to fit different door preparations.

Maintenance and safety. Regular cleaning and tightening of screws help prevent looseness. Lubrication of moving parts with a silicone-based product can reduce wear. For exterior doors, ensure the handle design includes appropriate locking mechanisms or can be paired with a deadbolt for enhanced security.
