In practice, kPIindicator denotes one of the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) used in performance management to monitor progress and inform decision making. A well-defined kPIindicator is specific, measurable, assigned an owner, and tied to a target and a time frame.

Design and usage: KPIs should align with strategy, be few in number, and provide actionable insight.
