A hose end, or hoseend, refers to the terminating portion of a flexible hose where connections to other hoses, fixtures, or devices are made. It is the point at which water or other fluids enter or exit the hose system and is often fitted with adapters, valves, or nozzles to control flow, spray pattern, or compatibility with other components.

Common types and configurations include threaded ends for screw-on connections, barbed ends that grip the hose with clamps, crimped metal ends, and molded plastic ends. Some hose ends incorporate a shut-off valve or a quick-connect/quick-release mechanism to simplify changing accessories such as spray nozzles, sprinklers, or additional hoses. End fittings come in various materials, with brass, aluminum, stainless steel, and durable plastics being typical choices. Material selection depends on factors such as pressure rating, corrosion resistance, and compatibility with the hose material (rubber, PVC, or polyurethane).

Standards and compatibility vary by region. In the United States, garden hose ends commonly use a garden hose thread (GHT) design, while other regions may employ different standards such as BSP or NPT adapters to connect to fixtures or equipment. Because hoses and attachments may use different thread sizes and types, adapters are frequently used to ensure a proper seal and fit.

Maintenance considerations include inspecting the hose end for cracks, wear, or leaks, checking gaskets or O-rings, and replacing worn or damaged fittings. Properly securing end caps and ensuring compatibility with connected devices helps maintain system performance and prevent leaks.
