Himmennin is a device that enables adjusting the brightness of a light source. It is commonly installed in homes, offices, and public spaces to provide flexible illumination and energy savings without changing the lamp. A dimmer controls the electrical power delivered to the lamp, typically by selectively cutting parts of the AC waveform or by regulating current in electronic drivers.

Installation and safety follow local electrical codes. Himmennin devices should be installed to match the voltage and current ratings of the lighting circuit, and wiring should be performed by qualified personnel when required by regulation.
