Hadtudományi, literally "military science" in Hungarian, is the academic and professional field that studies armed forces, defense policy, strategy, and security. In Hungarian usage the term covers both theoretical inquiry and practical application within military organizations, as well as research and teaching at universities and defense institutions that prepare officers and analyze defense challenges. The scope includes strategic and operational theory, military history, doctrine development, organizational design, logistics, and acquisition, as well as defense resource management and interoperability with allied forces. The field also engages with related disciplines such as international relations, international law, ethics, and cybersecurity, reflecting the multidimensional nature of modern security.
