Glidbeslag are mechanical fittings designed to enable guided linear movement of a panel, door, or drawer relative to a stationary frame. They typically comprise a track or guide, a sliding carriage or roller, and mounting hardware. Glidbeslag are used in furniture, cabinetry, and architectural applications to provide smooth, controlled movement and to conceal hardware in some configurations.

Common types include drawer glidbeslag, which connect the drawer to a fixed cabinet frame and allow full extension and controlled retraction; and door glidbeslag, which support sliding cabinet or room doors on rollers or glides within a track. In addition, there are undermount, side-mounted, and top-mounted varieties that differ in installation position and load path. Some systems incorporate soft-close or self-closing features to reduce impact and enhance alignment.

Materials are usually steel or stainless steel, sometimes zinc-plated or powder-coated for corrosion resistance. Moveable parts may include nylon or polymer bushings to dampen noise and reduce wear. Finishes range from galvanized or chrome to satin nickel and black.

Installation requires precise alignment and clearance. The track must be mounted on a rigid surface, plumb and level, with the carriage aligned to avoid binding. Screws into studs or mounting frames and proper spacing between the track and the moving panel are essential. Adjustments are often possible via set screws or eccentric cams.

Maintenance involves periodic cleaning and lubrication of sliding surfaces, lubrication with manufacturer-specified grease, and inspection for wear or deformation. Worn components should be replaced to preserve smooth operation and prevent binding.
