Fluiditást is a theoretical construct used in systems science to describe the state or property of a system to reconfigure its structure, processes, and cognition in response to perturbations, maintaining function with minimal disruption. It is not a physical property like viscosity; rather it denotes the adaptability and fluid use of resources, roles, and workflows within a complex network.

The term is generally understood as a composite concept encompassing three interrelated dimensions. Structural fluiditást refers to how readily the connections and components of a system can be rearranged, reallocated, or scaled without breaking core functions. Process fluiditást concerns the speed and flexibility of workflows, decision cycles, and operational routines when facing changing conditions. Cognitive fluiditást captures how flexibly stakeholders’ mental models, goals, and interpretations can shift to align with new information and contexts.

Measurement of fluiditást often uses a composite index, integrating indicators such as change latency, modularity and redundancy of the network, cross-domain interoperability, learning rate, and adaptive decision-making. Data can be gathered through simulations, real-time monitoring, and retrospective analyses of system responses to disturbances. The concept is applied across domains, including organizational design, software architecture, urban systems, and disaster response, where higher fluiditást is seen as enabling quicker recovery and sustained performance under variability.
