Fekélybetegségek refer to a group of conditions characterized by the formation of sores or ulcers on mucous membranes or skin. These can occur in various parts of the body, with common locations including the stomach, duodenum, mouth, and legs.

Gastric and duodenal ulcers, often referred to as peptic ulcers, are a significant category. These are open sores that develop on the lining of the stomach or the first part of the small intestine. While historically associated with stress and diet, the primary cause is now understood to be infection with the bacterium Helicobacter pylori or long-term use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
