Structuralistas were a group of thinkers in 20th-century France who developed a philosophical movement known as structuralism. This movement was characterized by an emphasis on the study of social and cultural structures, rather than individual human experiences.

The movement was heavily influenced by the work of French structural linguist Ferdinand de Saussure, who is considered the founder of modern structuralism. Saussure's ideas about the relationship between signs and their meanings were widely influential, and many of the thinkers associated with structuralism built on his theories.

One of the key ideas associated with structuralism is the concept of structure as a system of codes or rules that govern the behavior of social and cultural phenomena. Structuralists argued that social and cultural structures are not determined by individual actions or motivations, but rather by underlying systems and codes that shape human behavior.

Some notable thinkers associated with structuralism include Louis Althusser, Michel Foucault, and Roland Barthes. Althusser, for example, applied structuralist ideas to the study of Marxist theory and the nature of ideology. Foucault, meanwhile, used structuralist methods to examine the history of power and the social discourse surrounding sexuality and madness.

Although the movement was influential in a number of academic fields, particularly in sociology, anthropology, and literary theory, structuralism was also subject to criticism and decline in the latter half of the 20th century. Many of its key ideas have been incorporated into or challenged by later intellectual movements, including poststructuralism and postmodernism.
