Epoxibehandling refers to the use of epoxy resins for coating, sealing, impregnating and repairing materials, typically concrete, metal and wood. Epoxy systems consist of a resin and a hardener that polymerize to form a durable, rigid material with strong adhesive properties. The main purpose is to create a protective barrier against moisture, chemicals, wear and corrosion, while improving mechanical integrity of the substrate.

A central part of epoxibehandling is surface preparation. The substrate must be clean, dry and free of contaminants; concrete surfaces are often roughened, cleaned, and sometimes treated with primers or epoxy mortars to repair cracks or voids. The resin and hardener are mixed according to the specified ratio and used within a pot life. Epoxy is applied by brush, roller or spray, and may require multiple coats or the addition of filler aggregates. Curing times vary with formulation and environmental conditions, and full cure can take from 24 to 72 hours or longer.

There are several common types of epoxy systems, including standard epoxy coatings, epoxy novolac for higher chemical resistance, and epoxy mortars for resurfacing and cementitious repairs. Advantages include high strength, excellent adhesion, chemical and moisture resistance, and low permeability. Disadvantages can include sensitivity to moisture during application, potential UV yellowing for some formulations, and limited elasticity which can lead to cracking if the substrate moves significantly.

Typical applications cover industrial or commercial floors, garages and warehouses, corrosion protection for steel structures, marine coatings, and concrete repair projects. Safety considerations emphasize proper ventilation, use of personal protective equipment, and adherence to material safety data sheets and manufacturer instructions.
