Elektroformointi, or electroforming in English, is a metal-forming process that uses an electroplating technique to create a hollow metal object. In this method, a mold, often made of wax or plastic, is coated with a conductive material, typically a thin layer of silver or copper. This conductive mold is then immersed in an electrolytic solution containing metal ions. When an electric current is applied, metal ions from the solution are deposited onto the conductive surface of the mold, gradually building up a layer of metal. Once the desired thickness is achieved, the mold is removed, leaving behind a hollow metal shell.
