Principle: A handheld or cart-based ecografe emits short pulses of ultrasound via a transducer. These waves travel through the body and reflect off interfaces of different tissues. The transducer also acts as a receiver, detecting echoes that are converted into electrical signals, which are processed to produce real-time cross-sectional images on a display.
