Air is often intentionally added to a drysuit to provide insulation and buoyancy. Drysuits are generally used in very cold water environments where a wetsuit would not provide sufficient protection. They are more complex to use and maintain than wetsuits, often requiring specialized training.

The choice between a wetsuit and a drysuit depends on factors such as water temperature, the type of activity (e.g., scuba diving, surfing, freediving), and personal preference regarding comfort and thermal regulation.
