darbuk
Darbuk, also known as the dholak, is a double-headed hand drum originating from the Indian subcontinent. It is a common instrument in folk music and traditional celebrations. The body of the darbuk is typically made of wood, often from mango or sheesham trees, and is cylindrical or barrel-shaped. One head, usually the larger one, is made of goatskin and produces a deeper, bass sound. The smaller head, made of goatskin or cowhide, produces a higher-pitched, treble sound. Both heads are tensioned with rope or a combination of rope and metal nuts.
The darbuk is played with the hands, with the player striking the heads to create different rhythms
