Tasks encompass formwork erection, placement of steel reinforcement, mixing and transporting concrete, pouring and vibration to remove entrapped air, surface finishing and controlled curing to achieve design strength and durability.

Materials and methods are guided by concrete mix design (cement type, aggregates, water-cement ratio, additives) and by reinforcement practices. Formwork may be timber, metal or plastic, and modern sites often use pump trucks and mechanical vibrators. Quality control involves fresh concrete tests (slump, temperature) and hardened concrete tests (compressive strength cubes or cylinders), as well as inspections for dimensional tolerances and surface quality.

Safety and environmental considerations are integral: handling of heavy materials, dust and wet cement requires protective equipment and training; environmental measures include minimizing water and energy use, managing washout and runoff, and using supplementary cementitious materials or recycled aggregates to reduce carbon footprint.

Design and execution of betonityöt are regulated by national building codes and standards (including European standards such as EN 206 and relevant structural Eurocodes), and performed by qualified contractors and concrete technologists to ensure structural integrity, serviceability and longevity.
