Asexuális is the Hungarian term for asexual, describing individuals who experience little or no sexual attraction to others. The concept covers both biological and psychological aspects. In biology, asexual reproduction refers to organisms that produce offspring without combining gametes, such as certain plants, fungi, and invertebrates. In human sexuality, asexuality is understood as a distinct sexual orientation characterized by a lack of sexual desire or low interest in sexual activity, independent of a person’s romantic orientation. Asexual persons may still form romantic relationships, identifying as heteroromantic, homoromantic, biromantic, or aromantic, depending on their attraction to others emotionally.

Research indicates that asexuality is relatively rare, with estimates ranging from 1 to 2 percent of the adult population. Survey studies suggest a higher prevalence in female respondents, yet gender differences remain a topic of investigation. The asexual community often distinguishes between “sedex” (sexual) and “roma” (romantic) preferences.
