allosauroids
Allosauroids are a clade of large to giant predatory theropod dinosaurs defined within the broader group Allosauroidea. They include several African, European, Asian, and American lineages and are known from the Middle Jurassic to the Late Cretaceous. The group comprises families such as Allosauridae, which includes Allosaurus, and Carcharodontosauridae, which includes several very large predators like Carcharodontosaurus and Giganotosaurus. Some classifications also recognize additional allosauroid lineages such as Neovenatoridae. The wide geographic and temporal distribution of allosauroids makes them one of the most successful and diverse theropod clades of their era.
Anatomically, allosauroids were bipedal carnivores with large skulls and sharp, serrated teeth adapted for slicing flesh.
Ecologically, allosauroids commonly occupied apex predator roles in many Jurassic ecosystems and continued to be prominent
Notable members include the famous Allosaurus of North America and the giant carcharodontosaurids of Africa and
