Afterprocessing is processing applied after an initial processing stage, with the aim of refining results, correcting errors, or making outputs suitable for downstream use. In many contexts, the term post-processing is used interchangeably, but afterprocessing is encountered in certain disciplines, standards, or software naming conventions to emphasize timing rather than function.

Applications span several domains. In digital media, afterprocessing includes color correction, denoising, sharpening, and compositing after image capture or rendering. In video and film, adjustments to contrast, color grading, stabilization, and encoding parameters are common. In audio, mastering and dynamic range adjustments are performed after recording and mixing. Data analysis and scientific instrumentation use afterprocessing to clean data, remove artifacts, apply calibration, perform feature extraction, or re-sample data after an initial reduction or model run. In 3D rendering and computer graphics, post-processing effects such as bloom, depth of field, motion blur, and tone mapping are applied after the scene is rasterized.
