Technical overview: The specification outlines a universal connector and a layered protocol stack. The base layer handles device discovery, authentication, and control messages, while an optional high-speed data layer supports multimedia and sensor data. Power delivery is integrated, with nominal support up to 12 W and safe hot-plugging. Adapters provide backward compatibility.
