Väljalaskeklapps, also known as release buttons or eject buttons, are mechanical components commonly found on various electronic devices, particularly older models of computers and portable media players. These small, often circular buttons are designed to physically release or retract a component, such as a hard drive tray, CD/DVD tray, or other removable storage mechanisms.

The term originates from the Estonian language, where *välja* means "out" and *laske* means "to release." The button’s function is to allow users to manually open or close a compartment, providing an alternative to automated ejection processes controlled by software. This feature was particularly prevalent in early personal computers, such as those manufactured by Apple in the 1980s and 1990s, where a physical eject button was used to remove floppy disks or optical discs.

Over time, the reliance on physical release mechanisms has declined due to advancements in software-controlled ejection systems. Modern devices often use buttons or menu options within an operating system to trigger the ejection process electronically, eliminating the need for manual intervention. However, some legacy systems and specialized equipment may still incorporate väljalaskeklapps for compatibility or user convenience.
