Uskoks
Uskoks were Croatian irregular soldiers and pirates who operated on the eastern Adriatic coast during the 16th and 17th centuries, primarily based in Senj and other coastal towns. The movement emerged among refugees and soldiers responding to Ottoman incursions into Dalmatia and Bosnia, and the term uskoci is usually associated with guerrilla-style fighters who conducted rapid raids from the interior to the coast.
