Urnnavn

Urnnavn is a former municipality in the old Vestfold county in Norway, in the southeastern part of the country. It was established on January 1, 1838. The administrative center of the municipality was the village of Tønsberg.

Located in the provinces of Vestfold and Akershus, Urnnavn covered an area of approximately 118.84 square kilometers. The population grew steadily during the 19th and 20th centuries, reaching a peak of 1,478 residents in 1960.

On January 1, 1968, Urnnavn merged with Sandefjord municipality, and the name was later changed to Stefne in 1988, and subsequently changed back to Urnnavn in 1994. However, the most commonly used name was Sandefjord.

The history of the area dates back to the medieval period, and there is evidence of ancient settlements in the region. Potato farming, fishing, and shipbuilding were significant industries in the area throughout the centuries.

The surroundings of Urnnavn offered a variety of terrains, including lowlands, hills, and forests. The climate was characterized as temperate, with relatively mild winters and cool summers.

The local economy relied heavily on fishing and industry. People living in Urnnavn generally engaged in small-scale agriculture and trade, with a relatively high standard of living for the time.
