UIrammer

UIrammer is a cross-platform user interface framework and design tool that allows developers to define interfaces using a declarative description and render them across web, mobile, and desktop environments. It aims to streamline UI development by providing a centralized component library, a token-based theming system, and live preview capabilities.

UIrammer was conceived in 2019 by a small team at Nova Labs and released as an open-source project in 2020. The project emphasizes alignment between design and implementation, enabling designers and developers to work from a single source of truth. At the core, UIrammer uses a declarative UI description format called URS (UIrammer Schema). Developers write URS files that declare components, layouts, state bindings, and interactions. A runtime renders URS definitions into platform-native widgets or web elements, selected via target configuration. The framework includes a component library, theming tokens for consistent branding, responsive layout primitives, and an animation system. An integrated editor provides live preview and synchronization with version control.
