Törkeämpien

Törkeämpien is a fictional municipality in the Kalean Republic, located in the northern part of the continent. It covers an area of about 142 square kilometers and had a population of 3,920 in 2023. The municipal government is headed by a council of 15 members elected every four years, with the administrative seat in the town of Törkeämpien.

Geographically, the municipality consists of rolling hills, mixed forests, and cultivated fields. The eastern edge follows the Törkeä River, and a portion of the Lentoja Lake lies within the southern boundary. The area experiences a temperate climate with cold winters and warm summers.

History of the area includes medieval roots, with first historical references dating to 1429. Törkeämpien gained communal rights in the 1860s under Kalean administration, and a railway stop was established nearby in 1895, spurring growth in the early 20th century. The late 20th century brought modernization and a rise in local services.

Economy and demography are centered on agriculture (dairy farming and cereals), small-scale forestry, and local services. Tourism is modest, focused on nature and cultural heritage. The population is predominantly Kalean in ethnicity, with a small minority of residents from neighboring areas.

Culture and infrastructure include a primary school, a kindergarten, and a public library. Notable sites comprise the 16th-century Törkeämpien Church and a nearby nature reserve that protects boreal forest habitats. The road network connects to larger regional routes; regional bus services link to nearby towns, and there is a small airstrip available for emergency flights. A municipal festival is held each summer.
