Turvatyynyissä

Turvatyynyissä, commonly known as airbags in English, are a crucial component of modern automotive safety systems. They are designed to inflate rapidly during a collision, providing a cushioning effect for vehicle occupants. The primary purpose of a turvatyyny is to reduce the severity of injuries, particularly to the head and chest, by absorbing some of the impact energy that would otherwise be transmitted directly to the passenger.

The system typically comprises several key parts: sensors that detect a collision, a control module that processes the sensor data and determines if the turvatyyny should deploy, and the turvatyyny itself, which is a flexible bag containing an inflator. Upon detection of a significant impact, the control module sends a signal to the inflator, which rapidly generates a large volume of gas, usually through a chemical reaction. This gas inflates the bag in milliseconds, pushing out through a cover, often integrated into the steering wheel, dashboard, or seat.
