Trahvian

Trahvian is a city-state on the eastern coast of the fictional continent of Valara. It sits at the mouth of the Serun River along the Bay of Nareth, combining a historic harbor with rolling inland hills. The city has long served as a regional commercial hub, linking sea routes to inland markets.

Trahvian traces to medieval guilds in the 9th century and grew into a fortified town by the 12th. It gained merchant autonomy in the 14th, minted its own coin in the 15th, and joined a regional confederation in the 17th.

Today Trahvian is a constitutional city-state with a unicameral council of 25 members elected to five-year terms. The mayor acts as head of government, while an independent judiciary upholds civil liberties and the Trahvian Charter protects trade and local autonomy.

The harbor remains central to the economy, handling cargo, fishing, and cruise tourism. Traditional industries include shipbuilding and textiles, complemented by finance, logistics, and services.

Trahvian hosts arcaded streets, red-tiled roofs, and a riverside promenade. The official language is Trahvian, with regional dialects and minority languages. Major events include the Harbor Festival and a summer Night Market.

As of 2023, Trahvian's population is about 390,000, with a diverse urban profile. The city hosts Trahvian University (founded 1882) and the Institute of Maritime Research.
