TraceabilityKette
TraceabilityKette is a concept in supply chain management describing the end-to-end chain of custody and data that records the journey of a product from origin to end user. The term combines the German word 'Kette' meaning chain, with 'Traceability' to emphasize sequential linkage of data across partners and processes. A TraceabilityKette typically consists of data points or events captured at each step: raw material sourcing, production, processing, transport, warehousing, distribution, and retail. Each item is assigned a unique identifier (UID), often via barcodes or RFID, which is linked to a time-stamped record in an information system.
Implementation relies on interoperable data standards, such as GS1's Global Trade Item Number (GTIN), Serial Shipping
Benefits include improved recall speed and accuracy, reduced counterfeit risk, supplier risk assessment, and greater transparency
