Todentuvuus is a Finnish term that roughly translates to "plausibility" or "believability" in English. It refers to the degree to which something appears to be true or likely, even if it may not be definitively proven. This concept is often encountered in discussions of narrative, evidence, and judgment.

In literature and storytelling, todentuvuus is crucial for engaging the audience. A story possesses todentuvuus when its events, characters, and motivations feel internally consistent and believable within the established context of the narrative, regardless of whether the story is realistic or fantastical. For example, a dragon in a fantasy novel might possess todentuvuus if its behavior and limitations are consistent with the rules of that fictional world.

Beyond fiction, todentuvuus plays a role in evaluating information and arguments.
