Tikru

Tikru is a fictional mammal species created for fantasy literature and games. Originating in the world of Eldara, tikru are small, nocturnal arboreal animals noted for their soft fur, large ears, and agile climbing abilities. The name derives from the Eldaran language, where tikru is commonly interpreted as “night-singer” or “soft-foot.”

In appearance, an adult tikru measures 18 to 22 centimeters in body length, with a tail of similar length. Fur is typically muted brown-gray, with a lighter ventral side. They have keen hearing, good depth perception, and a prehensile tail used for balance and grasping branches.

Tikru habitat and behavior center on temperate forests and woodland edges. They roost in hollow trees by day and forage at dusk, feeding on insects, berries, seeds, and small fruit. They are social and live in small family groups, communicating with vocalizations and tail signals. Reproduction takes place in the spring, with litters of one to three, and parental care is shared within the group.

In culture and media, tikru appear in Eldaran folklore as symbols of agility and stealth, and are sometimes depicted as guides for travelers in certain tales. They are occasionally portrayed as companions in role-playing games and appear in several novels and the video game series Echoes of Eldara, where they may possess minor magical abilities within specific narratives.

Taxonomy and status: Because tikru are fictional, they have no real-world taxonomic rank or conservation status. Within the fiction, authors assign regional variants and cultural roles, and cross-media adaptations may introduce differing traits or powers.
