Teldata

Teldata is a term used in telecommunications to refer to data generated by or transmitted through telephone and data networks. It is not a single standardized specification but a broad label applied in various contexts to describe information related to the operation, use, and performance of telecom services. In some cases, teldata may also appear as a brand or product name, depending on the company or regional market.

The scope of teldata typically includes several categories. Call detail records (CDRs) and signaling data from network elements (such as SS7, SIGTRAN, or SIP signaling) capture usage and control information. Network performance metrics, fault and alarm logs, and device telemetry from switches, routers, base stations, and probes describe hardware and service health. Subscriber usage data, quality-of-service measurements, and security or audit logs may also be included. Together, these data types support operational monitoring, billing, analytics, and service assurance.

Common applications involve feeding data into operational support systems (OSS) and business support systems (BSS) for tasks such as billing, fraud detection, capacity planning, and network optimization. Teldata analytics can enable insights into traffic patterns, QoS performance, and user behavior, while telemetry from remote devices supports remote management and fault diagnosis.

Privacy and regulatory considerations are important, as teldata often contains personal or sensitive information. Practices such as data minimization, anonymization, retention controls, and compliance with applicable laws (for example, data protection regulations) are typically required.
