Teilversenker

A Teilversenker, also known as a partial sinker or partial shot, is a specialized fishing technique and rig used primarily in fly fishing, particularly for targeting fish in deeper waters or when fishing over uneven bottoms. The term originates from the German phrase "Teilversenker," which translates to "partial sinker," reflecting the rig's design where only a portion of the weight is submerged.

The Teilversenker rig consists of a leader, a fly, and a split shot or small weight positioned partway down the leader, rather than at the end. This setup allows the fly to be presented at a specific depth, often closer to the surface than a fully submerged shot would allow. The partial submersion helps to imitate natural insects or baitfish more effectively, especially when fishing in clear water or targeting finicky fish.
