Teahupoo

Teahupo'o is a village located on the southwestern coast of the island of Tahiti, French Polynesia. It is internationally renowned for its powerful and consistent surf break, which attracts professional surfers and spectators from around the globe. The wave at Teahupo'o is a heavy, hollow, and barreling left-hand reef break that is considered one of the most dangerous in the world. The wave breaks over a shallow coral reef, creating a thick lip that can crash down with immense force.

The name Teahupo'o is derived from the Tahitian language and is often translated as "place of broken heads" or "place of the great wall of water," reflecting the wave's formidable nature. The surf season typically runs from April to October, with the largest swells often occurring between May and August.
