Sublimatsioonitrükk

Sublimatsioonitrükk, known in English as sublimation printing, is a digital printing technique that utilizes heat to transfer dye onto materials such as polyester fabric, plastic, or even metal. The process begins with printing the desired image onto a special transfer paper using sublimation inks. These inks are unique because they are solid at room temperature and turn into a gas when heated, bypassing the liquid phase.

During the sublimation process, the printed transfer paper is placed in direct contact with the substrate material. This combination is then subjected to high heat and pressure, typically in a heat press. Under these conditions, the sublimation ink on the paper transforms into a gas. This gas then permeates the fibers of the fabric or the surface of the substrate, becoming an integral part of the material itself. Once the heat is removed and the material cools, the ink gas returns to a solid state, permanently bonding with the substrate.

A key advantage of sublimation printing is its ability to produce vibrant, full-color images with excellent detail and durability. The printed designs are resistant to fading, cracking, and peeling because the ink is embedded within the material rather than sitting on the surface. This makes it a popular choice for custom apparel, flags, banners, mugs, and promotional items. The process works best on white or light-colored synthetic materials, especially polyester, as it requires the material to have pores that the gaseous ink can penetrate.
