StrohmannArgument, commonly known as the straw man argument, is a rhetorical tactic and an informal logical fallacy in which an opponent’s position is misrepresented, exaggerated, or distorted so it is easier to attack. The name refers to a straw man that can be knocked down while the real, more nuanced position remains unaddressed.
