Stemlepí

Stemlepí is a term from speculative biology describing a hypothetical vascular plant form characterized by a dominant, photosynthetic stem bearing scale-like leaflets called lepí. The concept is used in thought experiments about modular growth and resource transport in forest understories. The name combines stem, for the main axis, with lepí, derived from Greek lepis meaning scale.
