Sprickbryggor

The term does not denote a single standardized construction type; rather it describes a family of piers or wharfs where joints, fissures, or segmented elements are integrated to allow controlled flexing and crack formation instead of rigid failure. In practice, sprickbryggor may be wooden or timber-masonry composites, or modular piles connected by flexible bearings or slip joints.

Design approach: The central idea is to provide a structure that can accommodate settlement, ice action, and wave-induced bending by localizing cracks to predetermined locations.
