The designation is not tied to a single standardized product; rather, it describes a range of tiles marketed under different brands that share advanced properties such as durability, dimensional stability, and long-term color retention.

Composition and manufacture: Most Specialitile products combine a dense ceramic body with a multi-layer glaze. The glaze may include micro-textured finishes to improve grip, stain-resistant pigments, and, in some cases, nano-scale fillers that enhance abrasion resistance and ease of cleaning. Some lines use porcelain-grade densification to minimize water absorption.

Properties: Core properties typically include high wear and chemical resistance, low water absorption, and broad temperature stability.
