Soluliike

Soluliike is a rural municipality in the northern highlands of the fictional country of Eldara. The name combines Eldaran roots meaning sun and grove, effectively translating to "sun grove." It sits along the Solu River, about 60 kilometers from the regional capital, and comprises mixed forests, meadows, and a small reservoir.

As of 2022, Soluliike has a population of about 1,900 with low density. The majority are Eldarans, with Eldaran as the official language and a small Seflak-speaking minority. The community is organized around a central village core, with several hamlets connected by rural roads.

Historically, Soluliike began in the early 18th century as a trading post and timber settlement. It developed into an agricultural and milling community in the 19th and early 20th centuries, and municipal reforms in the 1990s incorporated nearby hamlets into the municipality.

The economy combines agriculture—primarily grains and dairy—forestry, and light manufacturing. Tourism centers on nature trails, birdwatching, and cultural heritage. The town hosts an annual harvest festival in September. Landmarks include the Soluliike Church, dating to 1764, and the restored Soluliike Windmill.

Infrastructure includes Regional Route 7 and District Road 12, with regular bus service to the regional capital. The nearest railway station lies about 22 kilometers away. Energy comes from a mix of local solar and wind installations and a small hydropower facility on the Solu River.

Governance is provided by a nine-member municipal council led by a mayor, within Eldara’s decentralization framework. Services include a primary school, a community center, and a clinic in a neighboring village. Notable people associated with Soluliike include painter Lio Sarn.
