Solujemme

Solujemme is a fictional island nation created for worldbuilding and speculative fiction. It is described as lying in the southern reaches of the imagined continent of Nyara and consists of an archipelago of six main islands and numerous islets, surrounding a shallow inland sea.

The name is presented in-universe as the product of an ancient maritime language, with sol- meaning sun and -jemme a root associated with value or core.

Terrain ranges from volcanic highlands to low-lying coral islets; Mount Kalo rises as the highest point; climate is tropical maritime with a distinct wet and dry season; ecosystems include mangroves and coral reefs; Lyria is the capital and largest port.

Historically, Solujemme formed through a loose federation of trading clans in the medieval period, achieved de facto independence by the late medieval era, and adopted a constitutional framework in the 19th century. In 1999 it established a modern parliamentary republic with a formal constitution.

Government is a parliamentary republic; the president is the ceremonial head of state; the prime minister serves as head of government; the unicameral parliament has 54 members elected by proportional representation; the judiciary is independent and upholds civil liberties.

The economy is mixed, with key sectors including tourism, fisheries, shipbuilding, and solar energy. Exports include mosaic crafts known as tesserae, spices, and dried fish; the country relies on imports for machinery and food while investing in offshore solar and wind projects.

Culture emphasizes mosaic art, seafaring music, and coastal festivals such as the Blue Tide. The principal language is Solujemmean, a creole rooted in Nyaran with regional dialects; there are minority communities and languages on some islands.
