Sløyfecontrol

Sløyfecontrol is a software framework designed to manage and monitor loop processing in high‑performance computing systems. It was first released in 2019 by the Norwegian Institute of Technology in collaboration with several European research groups. The primary goal of Sløyfecontrol is to provide a lightweight, customizable interface for developers to instrument repeated computations, known as loops, in both serial and parallel programs.

Key features include real‑time metrics collection, automated load balancing across distributed nodes, and a set of diagnostic tools that can identify inefficient loop structures. The framework is written in C++ and exposes a C‑style API, making it compatible with a wide range of scientific codebases such as finite element solvers, molecular dynamics engines, and machine‑learning libraries. Sløyfecontrol can be integrated with existing job schedulers like SLURM and can export performance data to visualization tools such as Grafana.
