Sinkflug

Sinkflug is a German term that translates to "dive" or "plunge" in English. It is most commonly used in aviation to describe a steep descent of an aircraft. This can occur for various reasons, including emergency situations, tactical maneuvers, or simply as part of a planned descent profile.

In a military context, a sinkflug can be a critical maneuver. Fighter pilots may execute a steep dive to evade enemy fire, gain a speed advantage for an attack, or to quickly lose altitude for a landing.
