Screeningmaßnahmen are systematic procedures designed to identify individuals or populations at risk for specific diseases, conditions, or other unfavorable outcomes. The primary goal of screening is early detection, allowing for prompt intervention, treatment, or management, which can improve prognosis and reduce the burden of disease. Screening can be applied to various contexts, including healthcare, public safety, and employment. In healthcare, examples include mammography for breast cancer, Pap smears for cervical cancer, and blood pressure checks for hypertension. These measures typically involve a test that is relatively inexpensive and easy to administer, but it is not diagnostic on its own. A positive screening result usually warrants further, more definitive diagnostic testing to confirm or rule out the presence of the condition.
The effectiveness of screening measures depends on several factors, including the prevalence of the condition being
